This was a great project, and a lot of fun, not to mention an interesting case.
In this design, there is a specially designed trolley, that moves under the conveyor belt, essentially lifting the belt up where it stands (and lowering it behind itself!).
This allows for the material to fall down on the perpendicular conveyors on the trolley. Essentially, entire system is able to select a spot along the length of the main conveyor, travel there with the trolley and push the material of the main conveyor to the selected side!
Of course, design of so many movable parts was pretty intense, especially since this is effectively a very long truss with hundreds, and hundreds of elements!
It’s very important to understand how things work! In this project (and many other conveyor designs) it was important to acknowledge that the belt needs a tensioning station. This not only meant, that some bracing had to be removed… such a station actually tensions the belt, which in turn causes compression along the truss!
The first project we did with Enterfea was a silos design in 2015. Their non-linear FEA analyzes allowed to significantly reduce the costs of that project. Recently with the enormous support and commitment of Enterfea, we did a pressure vessel with imperfections design. Non-linear FEA analyzes allowed to save a project that seemed to be hopeless. The level of complexity and detail of analyzes provided by Enterfea always exceeds my expectations. Łukasz with his knowledge and commitment is a top-class expert in the field of FEA. Having 15 years of experience in the design industry, I can say that at the current level, Enterfea is no longer competing with the competition, they set new standards in the design projects and can only compete with themselves.
