Dust Filter Design and Optimization

This is definitely one of the biggest development projects we delivered. The scope here was very broad, as we were asked to redesign and optimize a modular typical structure of dust filter.

Since this structure is made from steel sheets without welding, a lot of thought was put into creating a robust solution.

We started with optimization of stiffeners spacing, their connections and details and move on to more complex problems like hatches, hopper and roof design (it was tricky due to explosion pressure in this case).

In the end, we delivered a detailed report of all the analysis and solutions, and since there did several more studies of this product (to adapt it to various situations like mounting on silos, design underpressure etc.).

Project Takeaway:

Discovery phase of a project allow to deliver better solutions! Initially we started with assessing the general capacity of the existing solution. We knew that we will redesign it, but it allowed us to discuss with the Customer what were their main problems, objections and what can and should be changed. This initial phase allowed us to pinpoint a few critical areas in the design, and we were able to address the most important problems first in our redesign. This way, we not only saved time, but also delivered a better final solution!
